Lack thereof

I leaned on paper
but it was easy to wrinkle,
and eventually it tore

I leaned on plastic
but I could never be oblivious
the falseness was a bore

I leaned on glass
Oh, I was almost fooled
but it was never meant to last

Then I leaned on a rock
and I bled so much
But it wasn’t mine
Yet I refused to believe
I wanted it to be mine

___

It would take a shadow to know my heart
The constant push and pull that rips me apart
Screams that start as early as dusk
Why is it so hard to fulfill that one task?

___

Used all mediums to distract myself
But the truth is much too real to be covered up by anything else
