Thy Will Be Done

-Daily Devotion-

“Thy will be done” is a call to arms. It is an offensive declaration of God’s protection and good plans for us. It is saying “not my will” and “not the devil’s will”.

In a place where I’m supposed to grow,
I’m dying

In a place where I’m supposed to be safe,
I’m hurting

In a place where I’m supposed to thrive,
I’m wilting

In the hands of those I trusted,
I am cowering

“Hindi ka naman mahirap mahalin.”

Ngunit paano nga ba
Kung ang bilang ng agwat
ay tila hindi tama?

Kaya’t siya ay nagtimpi
at bumaling sa iba
Hanggang sa dulo’y nagsisi
At sinabing
“Hindi ko naman inakala…”

O binibini, ano ang iyong hindi inakala?
Tila ika’y nagulantang nang malamang
Ang pagtatangi ay hindi naayon
Sa panahong ang isa’y sa mundo naitadhana

Ang pag-ibig ay hindi nasusukat
ng ngalan o titolo
At lalo mong tandaan
Ang pag-ibig ay hindi nasusukat
ng pilak o numero

Hello 2017

I started my 2017 by reading a book. Indulging in the quiet as people continued to slumber after the previous night’s festivities. Because I realized that expecting from these literary pieces harbours a more positive vibe within me than expecting from people who always make you wait,  people who make you think the worst of yourself, people who make you think their lives are perfect, people who are on your side only at times when they feel superior, people who won’t clap at your success, and the list goes on and on.

In my two decades of existence, I have just now learned to really love myself first. I am my own constant companion and it is very important that I love and respect myself first, so I can enjoy life with my head held high. Time spent on me, on bettering myself, is a much greater investment than time spent on chasing the ones mentioned above.

Hence, I greet you all readers, ‘Have a wiser year!’, instead of just a ‘Happy new’ one, that would only last for a day or two.

Follow your North

___

I look at you, you look not at me
But at the same forbidden
Fruit of the tree

It’s funny how your eyes linger,
Steal those glances
Like we’re none the wiser

Follow your North
Stay out of the South
Fix your compass
Oh, don’t be uncouth

Ache

___

And I can’t even breathe
because I know how it feels to break

And it’s not fulfilling
to be on the whole side of the lake

Want so much to run,
but is that really something you can take?

Because right here, right now,
is a reality we can’t fake

Questions unanswered that even
a night’s sleep can not unshake

Fools are those who believe
that love is a piece of cake

Defender

Raining arrows come. And there will be misses, but at least one will unrelentingly find me. It will pierce through at the precise moment when the last drop of blood clots. Thus, reopening the wound that has already bled a million times. But there will come a time when the vulnerability so thoroughly beaten, will finally break and shatter, powdered into dust, and become one with the atmosphere, and then- then there will be none to pierce, none to wound, none to abuse, none to receive sharp-tongued arrows that know nothing but destroy and produce bloody chaos.

Because then, my Defender will shine. I will hide away and let my Shield take front.

Make It So

___

Heave high, heave low
No matter what
Make it so

That the line is cut not
As it reacheth
Around the bow

Heave high, heave low
No matter what
Make it so

That the curve will not
Rot into miserable
Low

___

Time’s so fast
Can’t have a blast

Where has the past
Gone, gone, gone

Stare at the wall
Let the rain fall
When will he call
Back, back, back

Stepped on a heart
Killed with a dart
Everything’s falling
Apart, part, part

Love Traces

I never want to live a life without you in it.

___

A glass of water, clean sheets
These simple things
Are what I find most sweet

Blended greens, and some oranges
Taming my headaches
And giving me lozenges

Breakfast in bed
Knowledge in my head
Care in my heart
You moulded a great part

I get up to leave
No dust on my sleeves
Just traces of meticulous love
I have had ever since

This is a poem sped up
Because my eyes are welling up
For someone that my heart beats
From the moment I got my wits

I’ve been your treasure from the very start
And you’ve been mine, not just because you’re smart
I love you because you can do anything
Even when we were at the end of the string
I owe my life and a big part of my now
To you, my grandma, I will vow

To leave the same traces
Around the house
That remind me that I am loved
by a most wonderful gift from Above.
